Earlier this year, I reviewed Miss Ines Bautista-Yao's Only A Kiss (check out my review HERE!) Fast forward to months later, she came up with this newest thing of hers- Just A Little Bit of Love: A companion collection of shorts that are set in Only A Kiss universe! Of course, I was extremely thankful to be given a chance to participate in the little blog tour that Miss Ines herself has organized (*squeee* because fave author alert! <3) I'll read anything that has her name as an author hahaha!
Anyway, I wouldn't make this long because I have a little treat for everyone just a little further down: today in Le Bibliophile~, we have the gang from one of the shorts in this collection and I had an amazing chat with them! Go check it out below :D
Three short stories about three young girls: Anita, Ina, and Carla. Each one finding their lives disrupted by a boy. Maybe it’s because he wanders into the coffee shop where she works after school every Tuesday. Maybe it’s because he won’t leave her alone even if she has made it clear that she is crushing on his football teammate. Or maybe it’s because she’s spent one unforgettable afternoon with him—despite being oh-so-forgetful. Three small doses of love that serve up a whole lot of feels.
I am excited to share with you guys my first ever interview (with fictional characters!) I had lots of fun and I hope you'll enjoy this as much as I did!
Ailla: Hi everyone! We have here today with us the very
interesting personalities from one of Miss Ines Bautista-Yao’s latest short story – On the Sidelines!
Please welcome Ina, John, Ethan, and Robert! Hi guys, thank you for joining us
here today at Le Bibliophile~ Do you have anyone to greet? Say hello to the
audience?
Ina, John, and Ethan wave while Robert takes the mic: Hi,
everyone! We're happy to be here. Can't wait to find out what you want to know
about our almost fabulous lives. Well, maybe Ethan's is fabulous. Ina's and
John's maybe for a split-second. Mine is getting there.
Ina leans forward and takes the mic from Robert. She gives him a
look and answers before handing it back to Ailla: Anyway! (She smiles at Ailla)
Please continue. He can talk all day.
A: So let’s get started, shall we? I’m sure everyone here is as
interested as I to know her answer. Ina, could you tell us how did your morning
routine – football practice watching and cheese rolls – start?
Ina's eyes cut toward both John and Ethan and her cheeks begin to
turn pink: Uh, what routine? There was never any routine.
Robert rolls his eyes.
A: The next question would be for Ethan – who seems to be such an
eye candy for many girls out there! So
Ethan, as this big football star, are you aware of all the attention that you’re getting? Was Ina’s
little “crush” from before obvious? How did you handle it?
Ethan's eyebrows knit. He leans his forearms on his knees and
gives a little grin: Oh, I don't know about that. I'm pretty sure Ina only has
eyes for my buddy John here.
Robert raises his hand: But you are aware of the adoring female
attention, right?
Ethan shrugs but continues to smile. John just laughs while Ina
squirms.
A: But as they say, past is past. And besides, we have the present
right here with us today! So John, being in the same team as Ethan, could you
describe to us the type of relationship that you have? Was there any
competition or tension between the two of you? Was it affected by…the turn of
circumstances involving Miss (Ina) Cortez?
John claps Ethan on the shoulder: Ethan's my hero. He's amazing
on the football field and if anyone needs help with a move, you can count on
him to give you a hand. There's never any competition among members of the team
because he's too busy being his awesome self and we all know better than to
compete against that! (Laughs easily)
Ethan throws his head back and laughs. Then he nods at John:
Thanks, dude.
Robert: John, you didn't answer the second--
Ina claps a hand across Robert's mouth: Yes he did. Next
question, please.
A: Follow-up question: could you share to us some of Ina’s qualities that you find
admirable?
John throws Ina a smile: I love how this whole interview is
making her so uncomfortable. (Ina buries her face in her hands).
A: And of course, last but not the least – the ever loyal bestie,
Robert! First of all, I just would like to say that you are so fab! Anyway,
here’s the question for you:
As Ina’s best friend, what
for you is her most frustrating quality when it comes to boys?
Robert's grin is a mile wide: Why thank you, dear. You're pretty
fabulous yourself. Loving your questions too. Totally enjoying how this is
turning into an Ina roast. Haha! To answer your question, the most frustrating
thing about Ina is how she refuses to see what's in front of her.
Ina elbows him in the ribs.
Robert rolls his eyes: Fine. Refused. Past tense. She's doing so
much better now.
A: On a side-note, we would just like to know. What do you think
of Katie? Were you acquaintances? Any bad-blood between the two of you?
Robert: I think she's gorgeous! I've talked to her a few times
and the way she and Chris take care of each other is adorable. She did mention
once how frustrated she is with all these girls Chris is dating. I almost let
on how I feel -- uh, next question please.
A: And that’s
it for today’s interview – wait,
hang on. I’m getting
something from the crowd. What is it, girls? A last question for Ethan? Okay
then! Ethan, before we end this interview, please do tell us. What is your
ideal girl? And for the record, are you single or taken?
Ethan laughs and blushes a little. There are a few
"aww"s from the crowd: I'm single. I don't think a girl would
appreciate how much time I devote to football. But I ask girls out now and
then. I'm drawn to those who are confident, who know what they want and don't
just leave all the decision making up to me. I hate it when I ask where they
want to go and they say it's up to me. I love a girl with an opinion, you know?
And of course it wouldn't hurt if she were pretty too.
A: Thank you so much for dropping by, guys! I hope you had fun as
much as we all did! This has been Ailla, for Le Bibliophile~ ‘Til next time!
As they get up, John puts his arm around Ina and whispers: That
wasn't so bad, was it?
She shakes her head and buries it in his shoulder: I'll never
live that obsession down, will I?
Robert, grinning, nudges her shoulder: Just accept it, Ina. You
can't escape it.
Ina raises her eyebrows at Robert: Well, I can always say fate
just orchestrated it so I could meet John.
John gives her shoulder a squeeze: I like it. Let's stick with
that.
Oh.My.Gosh. Isn't that interview the cutest thing??? LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! It felt as if we've gotten an extra chapter from the novella :D They're all too awesome (esp. John and Ina <3) + Robert's as hilarious as ever! I need a full story for him asap!
*by the way girls, take note of Ethan's answer! *swoooon**
Just A Little Bit of Love did not disappoint as an Ines Bautista-Yao book (even the beautiful cover fits right with all the other pretty looks of her other works!) In fact, it was so amazing that it doesn't deserve "just a little bit of love." It deserves all the love in the world! You can't imagine how hard it was to contain all the feels and swoon while I was reading this at the library. It took a lot of effort not to melt right then and there when I reached the conclusion of each story. Just go see for yourself!
Truly for anyone who appreciate good ol' kilig moments and doesn't mind cliffhangers haha! (Miss Ines, come on! I need more of Brian *tuesday boy!! Got the name in an interview ;)* and Anita and Carla and Jacob and basically everyone in this book!)
