(Sound)track It!- "Love, Rosie"

For my first ever (Sound)track it! Post, I'll be featuring a book that I have recently finished and completely adored. Sure, I'm a few years behind since most of my friends have been raving about it for quite some time now. Well, it's better late than never! 

Also known as Where Rainbows End and Rosie Dunne, Love, Rosie is a novel by PS I Love You author Cecelia Ahern and has gathered a whole lot of praises from readers. 

Some time last year, it made the big screen (entitled Love, Rosie) with Lily Collins playing the titular role, Rosie Dunne and Sam Claflin as Alex Stewart. 

I admit that this is one of the rare books which I watched the movie first before reading the book. However, I could say that it did not affect my reading enjoyment that much except that I visualized Rosie and Alex as Lily and Sam. Not complaining, though 'cause I cannot think of any other who could portray my book babies (YES they're my book babies now, too) as well as they did :) I loved the movie as much as I loved the book so I guess no harm done.

Anyway, as I finished this beautiful book at 3am with happy tears in my eyes, I plugged my headphones in and shuffled my playlist. The first song that automatically played reminded me so much of Rosie and Alex's relationship that I just NEEDED to make a playlist for the book.

Here are the top 5 songs I personally think that should be part of the book's (and the movie's!) official soundtrack:

#5. Somewhere Down The Road by Barry Manilow 

"But somewhere down the road, our roads are gonna cross again, it doesn't really matter when. But somewhere down the road, I know the heart of yours will come to see  that you belong with me." 

It was an extremely looooooong road for Alex and Rosie but as the song goes, their paths converged eventually and they managed to actually get their much deserved HEA (finally.) 

The song lyrics were very fitting especially those "right love at the wrong time" and the second stanza which reminded me so much of Rosie's sentiments when she encountered a little...surprise mid-Boston preparations with Alex. 


#4. You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift

"If you could see that I'm the one who understands you. Been here all along. So, why can't you see, you belong with me, you belong with me." 

I actually could actually imagine Rosie singing this song for Alex because, come on! She never really liked Bethany (or Sally, actually.) She understands Alex's humor unlike his girlfriend/wife, she knows his story, and she understands his dreams no matter how weird they get. 

#3. Gift of A Friend by Demi Lovato

"When your hope crashes down, shattering to the ground. You, you feel all alone. When you don't know which way to go and there's no signs leading you home. You're not alone" 

I included this song not only because Rosie and Alex were the best of friends in the book but also because Love, Rosie isn't just a love story. It dealt with other things such as friendship and family.

At some point/s in their life, it is obvious that both Rosie and Alex felt completely alone; like they have no one else. But contrary to that, they always had someone to help them get through their troubles: their parents, Phil, Ruby, Steph, Rosie's chatroom friends, and so many more. 

The thing is, I felt that Love, Rosie showed how important it is to have a support system (AKA loving family and friends) in your life who will always, always be there for you no matter what.

#2. Realize by Colbie Caillat

"If you just realize what I just realized, then we'd be perfect for each other, and we'll never find another. Just realize what I just realized, we'd never have to wonder if we missed out on each other now." 

If Taylor Swift's You Belong With Me is Rosie's song for Alex, then I can say that this one is the other way around.

I can just envision Alex saying (or singing!) these sweet words to Rosie. Like he always had wanted her "But I can't spell it out for you. No it's never gonna be that simple." 

*sigh* Yes Alex, it can never really be that simple.

#1. Lucky by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat

"They don't know how long it takes waiting for a love like this. Every time we say goodbye, I wish we had one more kiss. I'll wait for you, I promise you, I will." 

And of course, for the top slot in our playlist, I guess it would've been a pretty obvious choice. This is actually the first song that popped into my head after finishing the book and being overwhelmed with all the beautiful, beautiful feeeeeeels!

I don't think lots of explanations are needed. Just listen to the song and you'll know it fits perfectly! :)
